THE MONEY PAGE:
This is the page where I list all
those people on the internet who have something to sell (Ebay, Apple Store, etc.) Then YOU go there by clicking on my link
and buy stuff. Then, when you do, they pay me a "referral", "commission", or "kickback", whichever term you prefer. Pretty
neat, eh? I do expect to make millions upon millions from this page. Then I may buy a controlling interest in Microsoft and
I will probably buy the restored BARRETT and install myself as Captain. I might even make enough to pay the yearly bill for
this site! Anyway, it may not happen at all. I have to figure out how to do it first. But stay tuned and be sure to be the
first to buy something from one of my links! 1 JUL 07: In the meantime, rather than waste this whole page, I will post
a bit of a bio below this to record roughly where I have been and what I have done.

24 JUN 05: It seems to be getting more likely that I will need
to "professionalize" this site and get some help to make it bigger, better, more versatile, etc. . I'll be looking in to
it before long. (In my life, "before long" is like one day and one day is like 1,000 years!) I have no idea of what that will
cost but I have been noticing more and more sites that have a link for donations. I have sent in some donations myself to
those sites. You probably have also. So I may try that route before I try all this advertising/referral stuff. If Bill Gates
would start it off with a $1 million donation, we would be off and running in a New York minute. If any of you know Bill,
see what you can do for me! Thanks.

Here
is a bit of information from which to compare where you were and what you were doing while I was doing something else somewhere
else:
Jon Lee Gateley 198 Stratford Avenue Ventura, CA 93003-2135 (805) 642-4011 1-800-959-5167
Birthdate, Place: 25 April 1936; Miami, FL; Victoria Hospital. (Mom worked there as an RN. She had come to Florida
sometime in 1935. I have the date somewhere)
1941-46: South Beach Elementary School; Miami Beach, FL. Finished
fourth grade there. Left there about June of 1946 to go to Texas, then California.
1946-49: Oceano Elementary
School; Oceano, CA. Graduated June of 1949.
1949- 1952: Arroyo Grande Union High School; Arroyo Grande, CA. Left
school in my junior year, about FEB or MAR of 1952.
JULY 1952: Early. Spent about three days in the San Luis Obispo
County Jail at the age of 16. Charge was "Joy Riding"! Big deal. Didn't like it. Resolved to not do that again.
It was the Navy or the California Youth Authority. F. Lee Bailey was busy at the time with another trial so chose the Navy.
Glad that I did.
23 JUL 1952-6 APR 1956: U. S. Navy. Boot Camp, San Diego: 23 JUL 1952 - 15 OCT 1952. Company
0594.

Point).

1954: About FEB - 23 APR: Corona Naval Hospital; Corona, CA. Patient. Broken left humerus. Single car accident.
One of the last of my stupid stunts. (Temporary assignment)
7 SEP - 5 NOV 54: Naval Justice School at Naval Training
Center in Newport, RI. (Temporary assignment).
MAR 55 - APR 56: USNS BARRETT (T-AP 196).Based at Fort Mason,
CA. Route was Hawaii, Guam, Kwajalein, Philippine Islands and return.
My Navy "career", according to
my DD-214, was 3 years, 8 months,13 days. And I was still only 19 years old when I got discharged. My Navy records show that
I was 70 & 1/4 inches going in and 72 inches getting out; 147 & 1/2 pounds going in and 175 pounds getting out. So
I grew 1 & 3/4 inches and gained 27 & 1/2 pounds. I have now "shrunk" back to 71 inches and shriveled up
to 167 pounds.
1956 - 1958: Allan Hancock Jr. College or Community College. Santa Maria, CA. AA degree.
1958 - 1960: University of California at Berkeley. Berkeley, CA. BA degree in Political Science.
1960
- 1963: Boalt Hall School of Law; UC Berkeley. Berkeley, CA. JD degree.
1963 - 1969: Private practice of law in
Watsonville, CA with Wyckoff, Parker, Boyle & Pope. Brief break for about one year about 1967 as solo practitioner
associated closely with a local real estate office. Hated all of it. Resolved to never do any of it again. Would go back
to driving trucks if I had to before I'd do that again!
1964: January. Admitted to California State Bar.
1969: Licensed as Real Estate Broker.
1969 - 1972: March 10, 1969 to February 1972. Employed as Associate Counsel
by State of California, Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board, at their headquarters in Civic Center, San Francisco, CA.
1972 - 1985: Worker’s Compensation Judge in Ventura County primarily, but also in Santa Barbara County
and San Luis Obispo County, CA. Retired DEC 85.
15 JUN 1982: Licensed as a private pilot. Have not flown
since around 1996. Do intend to fly again someday when most of my family is gone and nobody cares whether I make it back again
or not. Including me.
1985 - 1989: Mostly retired but obtained instrument rating, commercial pilot’s license,
flight instructors license, owned and operated two small planes, taught ground schools. Owned a Cessna Cardinal (C-177)
and a Cessna Skylane (C-182). Sat at formal dinner tables during this time with Admirals and retired Admirals! Laughed at
how life goes. Told some of them that I had been a seaman recruit at one point in my life. They got a kick out of that also.
1989 - 1999: Worked as a real estate broker for real estate offices in Ventura County and had own office for a period
of time.
1999 - present: Managed to stay pretty much retired but still busy with a million things.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Purchased and operated income property for many years. Got tired of it and sold it all. Made the state and federal
government rich. Spent what little was left.
Elks member many years ago in Watsonville, CA. Lodge No. 1300. Out
on a "demit" since about 1969.
Navy Court Reporter.
Now and then, play ping pong (Navy trained!)
and throw darts. Reduced now to pretty much using the plastic tipped darts and the electronic dart board in my garage "museum"
but still have the good, old fashioned steel tipped darts and the heavy board that goes with them.
Snorkeler.
Not here, of course. Too cold. In Hawaii.
Shooter at gun ranges. Not a hunter. But I would shoot mice, rats,
gophers, moles, and ground squirrels if shooting was legal in these city limits. (Don't like termites, either, but, dang,
they're hard to shoot.)
Motorcycle rider many years ago.
Former Teamster Truck Driver (while in college).
Tennis player. (Still play twice a week!). Even was a jogger many years ago. We still try to hike but even that
it getting less and less and shorter and shorter.
Never went to any reunion of any kind for about fifty years.
Went to my first high school reunion about 2002. Really enjoyed it. Go to just about everything that is going on at that
high school now if it's close to my era. But, sadly, not much is going on! Enjoying the past now more than when I was in it.
Never realized then how good those times were.
Not a Navy or military reunion person. Have been to two and didn't
care for either one. Nobody there that I had known or served with. Of course, I knew that before I went. Can't conceive of
going to another one. Guess that I would have enjoyed them if there had been people there that I had known from Navy days.
But, if you hear of what seems like a good reunion, let me know. I might try to make another one.
Not a family
reunion person although there is a huge Gateley Family reunion every other year. Immediate family all gone now. Not interested
in meeting people that I am related to but have never known.
Not a traveler. Hate packing suitcases, catching
airplanes, renting cars and living out of suitcases. Not even a driver, much, anymore. If I can't get there in an hour, forget
it!
Not a cruiser. (Went on a one week Alaskan cruise on Staatendam. Great experience but once is enough for
me).
Not a golfer, fisherman, gambler, singer, musician, bowler, movie-goer, archer or painter. Not a swimmer.
I can swim, of course, but my only swimming is when we snorkel in Hawaii. Not a SCUBA diver. Looks like fun but my ears have
always been very sensitive to pressure.
Well, I WAS a musician, of sorts, briefly, in the eighth grade at good
old Oceano Elementary School. I was the "lead" or "head" drummer! OK, I was the ONLY drummer. I played
the snare drum and my buddy, Danny Messer, played the bass drum. We were lousy. We could read the music. We just couldn't
make those drumsticks do what those little black dots said to do! So the band director gave up on us and said just play "boom-cha-cha"
and try to keep some rhythm going. That we could do. I added a little bit of impromptu stuff now and then to try to make
it look like we knew what we were doing. We never got to reprise our roles because we had to then move on to high school
where they had a lot more talent available.
Not into boats or sailing although years ago we used to go out once
or twice a year with friends who had nice boats. All of them are now dead or boatless.
Not much of a reader anymore
but do tinker with computers and try to figure out all this new electronic stuff but don't seem to be too good at it.
Been in this home for 36 years. Since 1972. Same address and phone number all these years. Never meant to stay in the same
place so long but do plan on leaving here for good in 2036.
Would like to move into nice condo or senior citizen
complex but can't find one that I like. Do like the Sun City developments but they are all built in the middle of Hell.
Don't want to live where it's hot, cold, humid, rainy, buggy, windy, "liberal" or "progressive"
or has tornadoes or hurricanes or snow. Give me an earthquake any time. (OK, OK, so I live in Southern California but it's
only because the weather here in Ventura is so fabulous).
Apple Macintosh user since the beginning of time. "Hate"
Microsoft but Apple is no more lovable or admirable than Microsoft. Apple would be Microsoft if it could be. Hate the Apple
keyboard. Like the McAlly keyboard but my present Mac, my 5th one, is the 24" 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with a cordless
keyboard and McAlly doesn't make a cordless keyboard for this model yet.
Never smoked. Tried it. Hated it. All
of my family smoked. Those "coffin nails" killed both of my parents.
Drink only moderately and occasionally.
Prefer good champagne. Many in my family were alcoholics. My family doctor has prescribed Dom Perignon only. So that severely
limits when and how much champagne I drink.
Four sons; two daughters-in-law; two grand-daughters. None live in
California.
Sons: Jon: (OCT 56); Roseburg, OR. Jeff: (DEC 56); Salt Lake City, Utah. Jim: (APR 64); Santiago,
Chile. Joe: (DEC 58); Plano, TX.
(I have posted so much stuff on so many pages over the last five years or so that
I have forgotten what or where I posted stuff. I also have some "bio" stuff on the "Rough Draft" page).
That's about it for now.
